NARVRE Celebrated its Biennial Convention

In May of this year, 2022, we celebrated our 42nd biennial convention at the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland, California. We were very pleased to be able to celebrate this year since COVID-19 put plans on hold for our previous convention that was to be held in 2020.  

This year’s convention was hosted by Unit 61. Our sincere appreciation goes out to this year’s convention planners: co-chairs Niecie Patterson and Brian Lewis, Committee Secretary-Treasurer Bob Paulson, and Unit 61 President Fred Granados. We are pleased to announce that the convention was a fantastic success. We would also like to thank Nancy Lewis for all her hard work that made the convention run seamlessly. 

There were many important topics discussed at the convention this year. In your upcoming newsletters, you can plan on seeing several future articles where our writers will discuss various topics discussed at the convention. Also, the National Secretary will be emailing all Delegates the Official Minutes approved by the governing board. This can be used as a resource to report convention information to their Unit members. 

There were a few firsts at the 42^nd convention this year including the Women’s Appreciation Breakfast, the RRB 3 Person Panel, a presentation by the National President of Smart, and lastly the addition of the Jones Granger Law firm who acted as a sponsor with Bruce Halstead speaking on behalf of the firm.  

National Secretary James (Phil) Steward wrote that “after arriving home from the excitement of the Convention and settling in, I wanted to again share our thanks to all the convention attendees. We are so grateful for the effort that Delegates, Alternates, and spouses made to attend our National Event from around the country. We also appreciate everyone’s extended support, gifts, and prayers. We are truly blessed to have been given such a fantastic organization.”.
