BIO FOR RON HYLLA

While attending college, in the summer months, I worked as a section labor for the Soo Line Railroad.  In 1976, I joined Burlington Northern, now Burlington Northern Santa Fe, working in the Material Department in Waite Park, MN.  I worked in many areas as a clerk for BNSF during my railroad career, Material, Operations, Mechanical and Maintenance of Way.

After beginning at BNSF, I quickly became involved in the clerical labor union, BRAC, later becoming Transportation Communications Union (TCU).  I was the Local President and later the Local Chairman.  In 1996, I accepted a position at the advanced transportation training program for TCU at the Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corp Center in St. Paul, MN.  In 1999, I was elected as Vice General Chairman for TCU and elevated to the position of Senior Vice General Chairman.

I joined NARVRE in 2008 and immediately became Secretary-Treasurer for Unit 107 in St. Cloud, MN.  I attended every NARVRE National Convention since 2008 as a delegate.  I served on many committees at each convention, including chairman of committees.

I am married to my wife Cheri for 46 years and we have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  We enjoy life together at our home and our lake cabin in northern Minnesota.
